General Dynamics Information Technology Contract Letter

Dear President Napolitano: You recently commented in an interview with Politico that President Trump’s policy regarding asylum seekers at the U.S. border is a “misallocation” of resources. We write to demand that the University of California be consistent with that sentiment....

Janus vs AFSCME

Janus vs AFSCME is a pending U.S. Supreme Court case pushed by corporations to attack public sector working people like us. It'll help UC push working people out of your union, which will hurt efforts to secure a fair contract that ensures safe working conditions, fair pay, affordable healthcare, and a secure retirement....

LABOR BOARD & COURT RULED: UC WORKERS HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO STRIKE!

PERB (Public Employment Relations Board) and the Court both agree with AFSCME on Patient Protection! We have been fighting to win a fair contract for safe staffing and a secure future. Instead of agreeing to a fair contract, UC chose to put profits before patients, students, and the front-line providers. Now PERB and the Court have agreed with AFSCME that virtually all service workers and patient care workers can go on strike while a limited number of essential employees will report to work to protect our patients....

Q&A ABOUT OUR RIGHT TO STRIKE

Q: Why is our AFSCME 3299 bargaining team calling for a strike vote?

Our Bargaining Team has been negotiating in good faith. UC still has yet to offer real wage increases, benefit protections, job security, safe staffing and ending discrimination in the workplace. Instead, UC wants us to take cuts. We have reached the final impasse in SX Bargaining. If UC continues to refuse to meet our core demands, we must be prepared to take all actions necessary to win, including striking. That’s why our bargaining team is calling for a strike vote to show UC that we are ready to fight for what we deserve. Patient Care workers are voting to join the lines with Service workers in solidarity; all UC workers deserve better....

Membership Update 10/02/17

On August 7th, UC and our bargaining team declared an Impasse. Meaning, both parties were not able to reach an agreement and neither has additional movement to make at this time. When we reach impasse, we call on a neutral party to step in and help. We filed in early September, and PERB has responded in agreement....

3299 Wins Access Rights to New Employees

Our union made important gains in this year’s state budget by securing language that requires UC to bargain with 3299 over access to all new hire orientations. The new law, AB 119, grants 3299 access to information regarding new hires, and the right to bargain with UC over the amount of time at and the manner of access to new employee orientations....
