Stop UC’s Illegal Layoffs!

UCSD and UCSF have announced layoffs of hundreds of frontline workers, including 140 AFSCME 3299 members. We are filing an Unfair Labor Practice charge. Our ULP Committee has authorized a ULP strike at UCSD and UCSF against UC’s illegal and immoral layoffs.

Over the past years, we have been raising concerns about the quality of patient care impacted by UC’s poor decisions. UC has chosen to buy more hospitals, contract out our jobs, and is hiring for two new high-paid Executive positions. Layoffs only make things worse. Enough is enough!

Our strike is legal, and the Labor Board has ruled that virtually all service and patient care workers can go on strike. A small number of employees will report to work, and some workers will be required to be on call to take care of patients.
