Many Californians are facing an unprecedented attack from the federal government, and UC has remained silent. UC’s silence shows they don’t care about our community. UC wants workers to be discouraged and intimidated, and ultimately stop fighting for a contract that respects the work we do

Our UC community is under attack. We are calling on the UC leadership to stand up and protect the rights of our patients, students, and workers.

We demand that UC uphold and respect the following rights and obligations:

UC managers and police must insist that ICE or DHS agents produce a signed judicial warrant to access any non-public area.
UC managers should place signs at the entrances to all non-public and/or limited-access areas, making it clear that they are not open to the public.
California law prohibits UC police from undertaking joint efforts with federal, state or local law enforcement agencies to investigate, detain or arrest individuals for violation of federal immigration law.
UC police are prohibited from detaining an individual in response to an immigration hold request from ICE or any other law enforcement agency enforcing federal immigration law.
We have the right to remain silent, the right to be free from unlawful search or seizure, the right to be represented by an attorney and the right to engage in peaceful protest activity, among others.
UC representatives must immediately notify AFSCME 3299 of any immigration audit, investigation or potential issue relating to an employee’s work authorization or immigration status.
UC representatives cannot require proof of immigration status or require re‐verification of status unless required by law.

Do’s and Don’ts if ICE is at UC

DO inform agents of restricted areas if they try to enter
DO request a valid warrant for entry to private areas
DON’T collaborate by identifying students, patients or workers for agents
DON’T block entry, even if agents force entry into a private area without a warrant, just object loudly

Object to agents entering private or restricted areas without a valid warrant
Verify the warrant is valid, if provided
Document activity by filming horizontally, ensuring you do not interfere.

Recursos para Defender a Nuestra Comunidad en la UC

Muchos Californianos estamos enfrentando un ataque sin precedente del gobierno federal, y la UC no ha dicho nada. El silencio de la UC demuestra que nuestra comunidad no le importa. UC quiere a sus trabajadores desanimados e intimidados, y a final de cuentas quiere que dejemos de luchar por un contrato digno del trabajo que hacemos

Nuestra comunidad en UC está siendo atacada. Hacemos un llamamiento a que los líderes de UC alcen la voz en defensa de los derechos de nuestros pacientes, estudiantes, y trabajadores.

Exigimos que la UC sostenga y respete los siguientes derechos y obligaciones:

Los gerentes y la policía de UC tienen que insistir en que los agentes de ICE y DHS presenten una orden judicial firmada para entrar en cualquier zona que no sea de acceso público.
Los gerentes de UC deben colocar letreros en la entrada de todas las zonas que no sean de acceso público o que sean de acceso limitado, dejando claro que no están abiertas al público.
Las leyes de California prohíben que la policía de UC colabore con las agencias policiales federales, estatales o locales en la investigación, detención o arresto de las personas por violación de las leyes federales de inmigración.
Se le prohíbe a la policía de UC detener a cualquier persona a partir de una solicitud de detención de inmigración de ICE o de cualquier otra agencia policial de aplicación de las leyes de inmigración.
Tenemos derecho de guardar silencio, derecho de estar libres de registro o incautación ilegal, derecho de ser representados por un abogado, y el derecho de participar en actividades de protesta pacífica, entre otros derechos.
Los representantes de la UC tienen que notificar de inmediato a AFSCME 3299 sobre toda auditoría o investigación de inmigración, o posible problema relacionado con la autorización de trabajo o situación migratoria de un empleado.
Los representantes de UC no pueden exigir comprobante ni reverificación de situación migratoria excepto según exija la ley.

Lo que Sí Debe Hacer y No Debe Hacer si ICE está en UC

SÍ debe informar a los agentes sobre las zonas prohibidas si intentan entrar
SÍ debe pedirles una orden válida para entrar en las zonas privadas
NO debe colaborar con los agentes en la identificación de estudiantes, pacientes o trabajadores
NO debe bloquear la entrada, aunque los agentes entren a la fuerza en una zona privada sin una orden judicial, pero sí debe oponerse enérgicamente en voz alta

ICE está en la UC, ¿ahora que hago?

Llame a la Línea de Respuesta Rápida de UC
Informe a los agentes que se necesita una orden válida para entrar en las zonas privadas o prohibidas.
Opóngase a la entrada de los agentes en las zonas privadas o prohibidas sin una orden válida.
Verifique que la orden sea válida, si es que presentan alguna orden
Documente sus actividades, grabando en horizontal, y asegurándose de no interferir.

Proveedores de servicios legales sin fines de lucro
- Primero introduzca su zona geográfica (estado, código postal, o centro de detención), y luego desplácese hasta la parte inferior de la lista para limitar los resultados según idioma, clase de servicio, etc.
- Las organizaciones pueden ofrecer representación en los centros de detención y procesos de deportación, instrucción sobre el proceso de modificar su situación migratoria o solicitar la residencia permanente, etc.
