For two years, AFSCME 3299 has been calling on the university to address the deep income, racial, and gender inequality throughout the UC system, driven by outsourcing jobs to contract companies. FAQ About October 23-25 AFSCME Strike

Our Bargaining Team has been negotiating in good faith with UC for a new contract covering Patient Care workers for over 20 months. Instead of negotiating real wage increases, benefit protections, job security, safe staffing and ending discrimination in the workplace, UC imposed its own terms: healthcare premium increases, flattening wages, a risky 401(k) and still more outsourcing of our jobs. This is not a contract and we won’t accept UC treating us as if we were 2nd class. Our bargaining team is calling for a PCT strike to fight for what we deserve, and just like we supported Service in their strike last May, Service is calling on all workers to join the strike in solidarity....
