Hundreds to Picket in Support of University of California Workers

(OAKLAND, CA) – On Thursday, October 12th, hundreds of workers and students will be gathering at University of California (UC) Medical Centers and campuses to rally in support of fair contracts for thousands of UC employees.

“Despite three scathing state audits, and repeated scandals involving enrichment of executives at the expense of students, patients, and low wage workers–UC administrators are already proposing more of the same,” says AFSCME Local 3299 President Kathryn Lybarger. “Instead of becoming a living symbol of income inequality, it’s time for UC to get back to building pathways to the middle class.”
