Why Are UC Workers On Strike?
UC Workers on Strike
Over UC’s Serial Lawbreaking!
Across the state, UC has tried to intimidate and threaten workers to keep them from speaking out, protesting, leafleting, picketing, and striking. UC keeps breaking the law – but we refuse to be silenced! UC needs to hear from us that it needs to address short-staffing and the affordability crisis affecting its workforce.
“In our department, management was spreading misinformation and telling us we couldn’t go on strike. Then, after the strike, they handed us counseling memos for exercising our right to strike! That’s illegal! And that’s why we are on strike to protest UC’s illegal actions!”
— Langston Walton, UCSF, Security
UC is a public institution that claims to care about the most vulnerable in our communities. It needs to ACT like it. STOP breaking the law and trying to silence workers. START playing by the rules so we can start investing in the frontline workers who make this institution run with living wage jobs, affordable healthcare and housing benefits for the workers who need them most.
