Statement: AFSCME 3299 Reacts to Mass Shooting in Los Angeles
Statement from Kathryn Lybarger, UC Berkley Gardener and president of AFSCME Local 3299, who represents more than 30,000 service and patient care workers across 10 campuses and medical centers at the University of California, on the mass shooting in Los Angeles on Saturday, Jan. 21:
“Sadly, once again, our state is hurting after another senseless and tragic mass shooting yesterday in which ten people were senselessly murdered as folks were celebrating Lunar New Year in Monterey Park. AFSCME Local 3299 stands with the brave and resilient members of the Monterey Park community, our AAPI siblings, and those affected by this preventable loss of life. We must come together, in one collective voice, to tell those we’ve elected to office that enough is enough.”
