The University of California system’s largest union, AFSCME Local 3299, led an “unfair labor practice strike” at all UC hospitals and at nine UC camopuses, including Berkeley and Santa Cruz, on Wednesday. The union staged the strike in response to what they say is a campaign of illegal intimidation by UC administrators against service and patient care workers who are advocating for safe staffing standards.
