UC Unions Say NO to Two-Tier Health Coverage
At a stakeholder meeting on July 3, 2007, UC Unions told UC administration we will not accept any of the lower-tier benefit plans, such as the “high-low” plans, which UC is considering for 2008. The unions urged UC to maintain one level of health benefits for all its staff, rather than adding lower-quality, lower-access plans such as the “high-low” plans or the “high-deductible” plans. Present at the meeting were unions representing 70,000 unionized staff at UC.
