Bargaining Update #3 – March 16, 2011
The Wisconsin governor Scott Walker proposed legislation that would take away workers’ right to collective bargaining and slash worker pay and benefits. At the same time, Walker issued tax cuts that benefit the rich. Let’s stop UC executives from doing the same here!
UNION BUSTING AT UC:
UC executives are spending millions of dollars on a union busting law firm to:
• Take away our right to strike
• Ban union buttons and stickers
• Force union leaders to return to their UC job instead of representing members full-time
WHAT IS THEIR END GOAL?
• A minimum 7% pay cut for all UC workers
• A minimum 200% increase in retiree healthcare premiums.
• Create a two-tier pension where new employees have a worse pension plan.
ALL THIS WHILE GIVING MILLIONS IN PERKS TO UNIVERSITY EXECUTIVES!
