Bargaining Update #3 (2007): UCSD is Watching!
Posted On Aug 14th, 2007
AFSCME 3299 UCSD turns out for Bargaining!
On August 14, 2007, our second bargaining session took place in San Diego.
In spite of Management’s attempts to make Bargaining inaccessible to members by booking rooms away from the Medical Center, 76 UCSD workers joined our Team at the table. One San Diego member even delayed his vacation in order to attend bargaining. While the Team presented our proposals to UC Management, San Diego 3299 members stickered up in their workplaces.
Protecting Our Healthcare
Our bargaining proposals include:
- No increases in health care premiums or co-payments during the life of our contract,
- One free quality health care plan for families
- Other hospitals systems including Kaiser and Catholic Health Care West Have These Protections in their Contract
- Other Colleges including Peralta, Chabot, LA
- Community College, San Diego Community College Have These Protections in their Contract
What’s Next?
Our Bargaining Team will meet again with UC Management on August 29th, and 30th.
In September, MAT and Bargaining Team members will be holding membership meetings throughout the state about our proposals, the status of negotiations, and upcoming actions we will take to win the contract we deserve.
On September 27, we will be holding the first statewide picket in support of our Contract demands. Join us to tell UC Administration you demand longevity based steps, pension and benefit protection, and the same respect shown to workers at Kaiser, CHW, and Community Colleges.
