#BlackStories: The Legacy of Greg McNair
Greg McNair is no stranger to the bullhorn. During picket lines, you could always find him at the front of the line directing the lines and making sure every chant was heard by UC Davis Management. Greg was ferocious when it came to defending his union siblings, we all knew we could count on him.
So when we heard about his passing, it felt like a blow to the gut. Greg was a Sr. Custodian for 10 years at UC Davis Hospital. He was a MAT leader for many years and was instrumental in winning many department fights, including one that led to the hiring of over one hundred new custodians.
Greg was a dedicated son, father and grandfather. Kristina Torres, UCD E-board member remembers how Greg “talked about his grandson so much and the love he had for him. He loved music and always wanted to dance. He enjoyed life and it oozed out of him.” Greg’s smile will forever be ingrained in our hearts.
