We lead the way in securing more rights for California workers

This 2022 Legislative Session we were victorious in the following legislative bills:

  • SB 886, (Wiener): Any housing built by UC must be maintained by our members and not contractors.
  • AB 1602, (McCarty): Any housing built by UC must be maintained by our members and not contractors.
  • AB 2046, (Medina/Gray): Any buildings built with “inland rising funds” must be maintained by our members and not contractors.
  • AB 183: Any buildings built with these funds must be maintained by our members and not contractors.

Despite our efforts, the following was vetoed by the Governor:

  • SB 1364, (Durazo/Caballeros): Equal Pay for Equal Work for outsourced UC workers. Even though we had ⅔ support in the legislature, Gov. Newsom sided with UC but we will continue to fight to hold the University, contract vendors and now, Gov. Newsom, accountable.

FARMWORKERS WIN! After months of pressure, marching 335 miles, holding 24-hour vigils, and refusing to back down, California farmworkers and the union of Cesar Chavez – the United Farm Workers – finally won the right to organize a union, free of intimidation. It’s because of the support of the community and unions like 3299 – with members like YOU – they won! Si se puede!

THE FIGHT CONTINUES!
