Chancellor to Address Key Step for UCSF’s Future at State of the University

October 10, 2017

UC San Francisco Chancellor Sam Hawgood, MBBS, will announce a significant step toward ensuring the future of UCSF during his annual State of the University address on October 27.

Due to unprecedented interest to this year’s address by the UCSF community, both Cole Hall and Byers Auditorium reached capacity in just days after invitations were sent.

UCSF’s community is invited to view the address from noon to 1 p.m. via a live stream.

In his fourth address since becoming UCSF’s 10th chancellor in 2014, Hawgood will be joined by two faculty leaders who will share their insights on how the community is working together to tackle the most daunting challenges in human health.

Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, MD, PhD, Lee Goldman Endowed Chair in Medicine and Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Medicine, will join the chancellor live in Cole Hall Auditorium on the Parnassus campus. Hana El-Samad, PhD, associate professor of biochemistry and biophysics, will be live for a simultaneous presentation in Byers Auditorium at Mission Bay.

The chancellor also will address recent national issues affecting the University and report on the latest developments and achievements across research, education and patient care.

As in years past, members of the UCSF community are invited to join the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #UCSFSOTU.
