UC Berkeley Workers Demand Speaker Boycott – Will Clintons Listen? [Audio]

Much has been made during the primary election about Hillary Clinton’s speaking fees from major Wall Street firms. But her husband, Bill, is also about to be in the spotlight for a speaking event. Workers at the University of California in Berkeley are calling on former President Clinton to respect a speaker’s boycott of their university. Bill and his daughter Chelsea, will be hosting a Clinton Global Initiative event at the university campus in April.

The boycott has been called by AFSCME Local 3299, which is the largest employee union on campus. The union has been organizing on behalf of the university’s custodians and parking attendants. Given how seriously Americans are taking the issue of economic justice and workers rights this election, it remains to be seen whether or not the Clintons will risk tarnishing Hillary’s candidacy by going ahead with the Berkeley event.
