Facing widening racial and gender pay gaps, 25,000 frontline UC service and patient care workers have been working in good faith to secure a new contract for more than a year.
Instead of addressing these inequities through collective bargaining, UC has unilaterally imposed a contract that will make things worse–flat wages, cuts to benefits, and more outsourcing of jobs.
That’s why 97% of University of California Service and Patient Care Technical workers voted to authorize a strike from May 7th – May 9th at all UC campuses and Medical Centers.
Together with students and community allies, workers have also launched a speakers boycott of all UC graduation events until university Administrators address the unequal treatment of low wage workers.
